Flat out

We sure are flat out after week one - perhaps we should say "flatted out". We have seen flats on every floor furnished or empty, clean or mingan' (look it up!). To begin with we queued with other immigrant families on the pavement to see inside but we have since upped our budget to avoid the smokey rooms or the smelly drains. Still no sign of Casa del Cowan but maybe mañana. Our friend Maritza is searching with us and so far we have only dropped two cultural clangers: firstly eating our lunch on the pavement bench (the shame!) and secondly licking my fingers rather than using a serviette. We had a great chat with one landowner in Spanish but I mistakenly claimed his flat was my cousin - I wonder why he felt it necessary to tell me that he was a Psychologist? We didn't take the flat, even if we were related.

Good to see you are both working "flat out" as usual!? Glad you have arrived safely and causing your usual mayhem to your new culture - be careful they don't deport you. Hope to hear you have accommodation soon without any traumatic visits to psychologists.

    God Bless

  2. Hi,Les has residence interview tomorrow (Wednesday) although mine is not til September. If we get a number we can open a bank account, and a bus pass (NOT a pensioners' one) and have an appointment at night to sign a lease on a flat - right next the photo above. This will be bed number 47!!
